Monday the 18th. On the opposite side of the river is a long steep hill to climb, six miles farther is quaking asp grove and a fine spring at the left of the road, 3 miles father is Pleasant grove of pine and fir trees. Now down the mountain for six miles, plenty steep enough, to a valley and a fine stream of mountain water; thence up another mountain over into the far famed Bear River Valley.
