Saturday the 14th. One of our wagon wheels begin [sic] to crack, fearful of it, don’t know what to do if it breaks down for timber is scarce here, the wind blows a perfect hurricane to our backs, the oxen do not do much pulling. Camped early. Camping places scarce and very poor.
